Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This policy explains what personal data Toy Spotter ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and your rights. We are the data controller for the information described here. We only collect the minimum data needed to run the service.
What we collect
- Alert & newsletter emails. If you set a price or stock alert, or subscribe to updates, we store your email address and what you asked to be alerted about.
- Contact messages. If you contact us, we keep your name, email and message so we can reply.
- Usage analytics. Privacy-friendly, aggregated statistics about how the site is used (pages viewed, rough device type). This does not identify you personally.
- Technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type) kept briefly for security and troubleshooting.
We do not sell your data, and we do not require an account to use the site.
How we use it
We use your email solely to send the alerts or updates you asked for, and to reply to your messages. We use analytics and logs to keep the site working, fast and secure, and to decide what to improve. Our legal bases under UK GDPR are your consent (for alerts and newsletters, which you can withdraw at any time) and our legitimate interests (for security, analytics and running the service).
Cookies and affiliate links
We use essential cookies to make the site work and privacy-friendly analytics to understand usage. When you click through to a retailer, that retailer or its affiliate network may set cookies to attribute the visit — this is how we may earn a commission at no cost to you (see our affiliate disclosure). Those third-party cookies are governed by the relevant retailer's and network's own privacy policies.
Third parties we share with
We share data only with the service providers that help us operate: our email delivery provider (to send alerts), our analytics provider, and our hosting/infrastructure providers. We never sell your information or share it for third-party marketing.
Data retention
We keep alert and newsletter emails until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry. Server logs are rotated and deleted on a short cycle.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can request access to your data, correction, deletion, or restriction of its use, and you can object to processing or withdraw consent at any time. Every alert and newsletter email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. To exercise any right, contact us via our contact page. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Children
Toy Spotter is intended for adults buying toys. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time; the date at the top shows the latest version.
